To touch the stars

I stand at the base of the Pyramid. You might have heard – the size of the stone blocks is human.

I stand facing one of them. She feels like a friend.

When I look up, I am left rather indifferent. The Sun rests upon the Pyramid’s peak, with absolutely nothing to offer. My kind-hearted stone companion, on the other hand, shines forth warmth. She has captured my heart.

Others like her stand beside, and are piled up. They don’t seem bothered by their arrangement. They smile with the same smile.

For a moment, I imagine going up, but I give up just as quickly, on the third step of my imaginary climb.

Steps are not steps, they are these sweet and welcoming stone giants, and they offer me their shoulders. Shoulders, not to cry on, but shoulders to climb on. They offer me their willingness, but I need my own strength.

I can see myself going up now. With the support of thousands of stone giants, I think I could reach the Sun, if I ever feel inclined.

Being supported by thousands of stone giants – I guess that’s how you touch the stars.
