Fae

Eons ago

My wild dreams turn into visions.

They guide me for a while, disappear, then re-emerge as bitter-sweet ancient memories.

Eons ago, you said to me:

A long time will pass,
but wait for me

You’ll hear much about my travels,
that I danced with the devil,
and found the fountain of youth,
drank as much as I could

That I followed a path that I knew was false,
without remorse,
and swept it with the breath of truth,
set on fire what I could not destroy by foot

You’ll hear of me as a beast, as a dragon
As a lost soul with no safe ground to stand on

With no safe home to return,
With no more falsehood to burn

You’ll hear nothing then, about me, for a while

And you’ll know then that I kept my promise,
That I was honest

That I went where no man turned beast ever dared to go

I can only hope
you too will be flying high,
so that we meet somewhere in the middle
Of a sky crowded by clouds

After eons that have passed,
to feel your breath at last
