I don’t know how you feel,
and maybe I don’t have a right to know.
You have a right
to draw a line in the sand,
or build high, thick walls
if you think
we won’t be getting along.
If I am not the one
that will ease the pain of your troubles,
carry your burden
with pride,
but still humble
you have a right to say no.
So build your walls.
But also, install a secret door,
and keep it unlocked
for the one that’s willing to care.
For the one that was grateful you were willing to share.
