In praise of the Goddess

Destined to heal

I set out for my journey, brown bear following my trail. Together we find a forest path that leads to a clearing, and there we decide to spend the night.

The brown bear wants to tell me a story, so I lean my back against the bears back, and attentively listen to all the whispers and hums of the forest, along with the bears’ thoughts.

Leaned against each other, we form a sort of a fireplace. I can see flames above and around us – we are the fire that sends out those flames.

The bear warns me – this is how it will be. You will be a source of fire, in the middle of the night, in the middle of a forest, and those wandering or lost will find a place for themselves next to your flames.

Whatever you do, don’t reach out. Stay like this, huddled up within your flames, feel me right behind you, and in the hellish heat, think of our cave.

With eyes closed, hold yourself tight, and let your flames do the work.

If anyone should choose to jump into your fire, they will soon learn –

A visitor well-mannered is destined to heal,
a visitor ill-mannered is destined to burn.
