In praise of the Goddess

Push me away

The waves, as sirens, send an intoxicating song – but unlike the mistresses of the sea, they sing me to stay away.

It’s a seductive tune, and I fall under their spell. They push me away, and I swim towards still water – together we get me back on course.

After some time, I begin to sail steady, grateful for the waves that told me no, grateful that they told me I don’t belong.

As hard as it was to leave, that’s what I did. But I’m still not looking for safety of land.

This ocean is vast, there will be waves that will accept me.
